Dirty POP

Ok, this post isn't really about an N*SYNC song, even though we love them. I'm sure you know that Funko has the most adorable POP Vinyl figures. This is one line of figures that I could literally buy every single one and be absolutely happy with my decision. There are POP figures for anything you could geek out over. They have Disney characters, Wizard of Oz characters, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Avengers (they have an adorable Agent Coulson now that is the sweetest thing ever), Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Scarface, Thundercats, WWE wrestlers...the list goes on and on. All the figures have a similar element with their huge head and eyes, but somehow Funko makes each one look amazingly different. I'm not one for collecting action figures or figurines, but these are too adorable to pass up. I have a weakness for adorable things. It's like buying a bunch of baby animals, but less expensive and less responsibility after purchase. My short wish list for these items would have to be Agent Coulson, Loki, Stan Lee, Ariel, Legolas, The Cowardly Lion, and Dark Phoenix. I keep changing my mind, but I think that's the list I'm going to stick with.
Not only does Funko sell the adorable POP figures, but they have Wobblers and Sitters (their own version of bobble heads). I don't like these quite as much, but if you're a fan of having a bobble head on your desk, check these out. Then there are the Plushies. These look like the POP figures, but they're essentially a stuffed animal. I'm pretty sure Graphics Girl would love to have a Daryl Dixon Plushie. You can't help but love these. They also have the big head and eyes, but they're squishy. There are far fewer of these than the figures, but they are equally lovable. Funko also has a hand full of other products. There are vinyl figures and Cupcake Keepsakes, Pop bookmarks, Tin-Tastics, and Papercrafts. If I had my own children, I'd be buying the Tin-Tastics and bookmarks for birthdays. These are adorable items that are also practical. I love to read, so I can always use a good bookmark and the Tin-Tastics have two pencils, two erasers that look like characters, stickers, and an adorable tin that also looks like a character. I actually really love the Adventure Time tin.

What are YOUR favorite POP figures? Post a comment and let us know. Also, check out www.funko.com and see all of their different products.

Avengers

This week's Throwback doesn't go back all that far. It takes us to the days when Avengers was filming in Cleveland. My sister was fortunate to spot Joss Whedon downtown one day, and shortly thereafter, we decided to head to Cleveland to see what we could see.   Most of the filming didn't start until evening, so we got there around 7 or 8pm. Everything was blocked off and there were so many people standing around trying to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Thankfully, most of those people weren't in it for the long haul. Graphics Girl and I ended up sitting there until everyone else had gone and all the drunkards came stumbling out of all the local bars. It was so much fun to see everything happening. We were watching the filming of everything happening outside of the opera house and biergarten. We were able to see a bit of Chris Evans (who was under heavy guard and had to wear a big cape until he was actually shooting), and LOTS of Tom Hiddleston and his body doub

Maybe a Matthew Broderick Throwback Series?

Last Friday night while scanning Netflix for a throwback from my list to rewatch, I found a great 80s classic with Matthew Broderick.  BEFORE his memorable role as Ferris Bueller, he starred as a computer genius named David in War Games. War Games takes place in the 80s during the Cold War. After a failed launch exercise (featuring Mr. Blonde, Michael Madsen ) the US government is convinced that they should give control of the nuclear program to a computer. That is, until it's hacked by a high school kid. When David (Broderick) successfully accesses this super-computer, he's trying to get into the computer of a software company to play their latest game before it's released. He unknowingly begins a showdown between the US and Russia that could lead to World War III if he doesn't help stop it.  I am not going to go into what happens....just in case you haven't seen it or it's been a while for you. As You Wish

I’ve been feeling kind of crappy lately and I thought to myself, “There’s only one movie that can pick me up right now.”   Though I didn’t have a grandfather to take care of me and read me stories when I was sick, there’s still something about watching The Princess Bride when you’re not feeling up to par.   That combined with the fact that the interwebs are buzzing about The Princess Bride heading to Broadway made this a perfect Throwback for this week. I remember when I was in the fifth grade we would, on occasion, have a “movie day” on Friday.   I convinced everyone that there was this great movie we NEEDED to watch.   I knew it line for line.   (Sadly, I forgot about the “I want my father back you SOB” line until it was right upon us and had to jump up to fast-forward it…oops.)   I don’t know if any of my friends remember watching it then.   It seems like it has a much bigger following these days, but that could just be because I was 9 and didn’t know any b
