TGIFF

It's Friday!  That means we're dishing out some Fangirl Favorites.

This week I have two favorites.  They are both products that I've wanted for quite some time and I just got both of them as presents for my birthday.  SQUEE!!  I'm feeling pretty fortunate that I have awesome people in my life who know me so well.

Fangirl Favorite #1 is the R2D2 Ladies' Tunic Tank.  This is one of the cutest geeky tanks out there!  I'm a big fan of all things Star Wars, so I wanted this tank from the moment I saw it. You can find it through our friends at superherostuff.com or thinkgeek.com.  Please be aware if you order that the tank is form fitting and runs small.  Some of the descriptions say tank dress, and there are some people that do wear it as a dress, but I wouldn't try it unless you have virtually no torso or are alright with showing off all your assets.  There are also Stormtrooper and Chewbacca tanks available.  I may just have to wear this to my birthday outing tomorrow!

Fangirl Favorite #2 is the Doctor Who TARDIS Mini Fridge.  Holy crap!  This is FANTASTIC! You can keep your food and beverages cold, AND it has a warming setting if you need to heat your food.  I think it may actually be bigger on the inside, as it looks pretty small, but can hold up to six 12 oz cans.  You can power it by plugging it into a regular US outlet or DC 12V car socket.  And last, but not least, it makes the awesome TARDIS Vworp Vworp noise when you open the door.  Hee hee!  Yeah...it's the little things that get me excited.  I just got this last night, but I am beyond excited to begin using it.  Everyday appliances are far more entertaining when they look like something else and have sound effects.  I just hope it doesn't excite me so much that I start eating all the time.  I'll end up turning into the Abzorbaloff or something.  That's pretty disgusting.
If you have either of these items, send us some customer shots!  We'd love to see them.

Avengers

This week's Throwback doesn't go back all that far. It takes us to the days when Avengers was filming in Cleveland. My sister was fortunate to spot Joss Whedon downtown one day, and shortly thereafter, we decided to head to Cleveland to see what we could see.   Most of the filming didn't start until evening, so we got there around 7 or 8pm. Everything was blocked off and there were so many people standing around trying to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Thankfully, most of those people weren't in it for the long haul. Graphics Girl and I ended up sitting there until everyone else had gone and all the drunkards came stumbling out of all the local bars. It was so much fun to see everything happening. We were watching the filming of everything happening outside of the opera house and biergarten. We were able to see a bit of Chris Evans (who was under heavy guard and had to wear a big cape until he was actually shooting), and LOTS of Tom Hiddleston and his body doub

Maybe a Matthew Broderick Throwback Series?

Last Friday night while scanning Netflix for a throwback from my list to rewatch, I found a great 80s classic with Matthew Broderick.  BEFORE his memorable role as Ferris Bueller, he starred as a computer genius named David in War Games. War Games takes place in the 80s during the Cold War. After a failed launch exercise (featuring Mr. Blonde, Michael Madsen ) the US government is convinced that they should give control of the nuclear program to a computer. That is, until it's hacked by a high school kid. When David (Broderick) successfully accesses this super-computer, he's trying to get into the computer of a software company to play their latest game before it's released. He unknowingly begins a showdown between the US and Russia that could lead to World War III if he doesn't help stop it.  I am not going to go into what happens....just in case you haven't seen it or it's been a while for you. (I'd like to know what you guys think....in the futu

As You Wish

I’ve been feeling kind of crappy lately and I thought to myself, “There’s only one movie that can pick me up right now.”   Though I didn’t have a grandfather to take care of me and read me stories when I was sick, there’s still something about watching The Princess Bride when you’re not feeling up to par.   That combined with the fact that the interwebs are buzzing about The Princess Bride heading to Broadway made this a perfect Throwback for this week. I remember when I was in the fifth grade we would, on occasion, have a “movie day” on Friday.   I convinced everyone that there was this great movie we NEEDED to watch.   I knew it line for line.   (Sadly, I forgot about the “I want my father back you SOB” line until it was right upon us and had to jump up to fast-forward it…oops.)   I don’t know if any of my friends remember watching it then.   It seems like it has a much bigger following these days, but that could just be because I was 9 and didn’t know any b
