Avengers

This week's Throwback doesn't go back all that far. It takes us to the days when Avengers was filming in Cleveland. My sister was fortunate to spot Joss Whedon downtown one day, and shortly thereafter, we decided to head to Cleveland to see what we could see.   Most of the filming didn't start until evening, so we got there around 7 or 8pm. Everything was blocked off and there were so many people standing around trying to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Thankfully, most of those people weren't in it for the long haul. Graphics Girl and I ended up sitting there until everyone else had gone and all the drunkards came stumbling out of all the local bars. It was so much fun to see everything happening. We were watching the filming of everything happening outside of the opera house and biergarten. We were able to see a bit of Chris Evans (who was under heavy guard and had to wear a big cape until he was actually shooting), and LOTS of Tom Hiddleston and his body doub

Merry Sithmas

Hello, friends! By now, you're probably winding down from a day of chaos. I hope you've all been able to unwrap some BG approved gifts, watch your Christmas movies of choice (Lethal Weapon, Elf), and bawl your face of at the Doctor Who special. We hope that all of you had a lovely holiday, whatever you celebrate. We send our warmest greetings to all of you and hope that everyone is having a happy and healthy holiday season. Thank you for being a part of our extended geek family! Please come back tomorrow for a fun "new" Throwback. ~Songbird and Graphics Girl

Wearing Your Geek on Your Wrist

For the past several years, my family and I have taken one weekend in December and spent it at the lake. It sounds far more glamorous than it is. We have a nice, little hotel about 5 minutes down the road from my house and it gives us a "weekend away", even though it's not really away.   We've adopted a tradition where, each year, all the girls get a new bead for our Troll bracelets. The beads are often representative of something that we've done together or a hobby that we have. This year we got beads to represent our family weekends at the lake.   Recently, there have been some geeky beads available. I know ThinkGeek has a Portal Companion Cube bead, a little computer bead, a d20, and what looks like the Sorting Hat (even though I don't think they can officially call it that). My favorite beads have been newly added to their stock. First, there is a blue TARDIS dangle charm. If you're ok with having dangly charms on your bracelet, this one has the

Fangirl Favorite

As you may have guessed, my sister and I aren't shy about letting our geek hang out. When my hair stylist asks what I've been up to, I don't have a problem telling her about the convention we just went to, or the one we're planning. Soooo, may I present my fangirl favorite for this week!!! Da dada da! When I saw this shirt on Her Universe, I knew I HAD to have one. There were some things I needed to order on Black Friday, and I kept thinking, do i do it? After fighting with myself over it, I got the best advice from my mom, "if there's something you really want, you should just get it." Thanks Mom! Since that day, I've been checking my FedEx tracking number hoping it's made it a bit closer to my mailbox. Please Mister FedEx Man, please bring my "Fangirl" shirt!!! Besides being a really awesome and adorable shirt, I'm really excited because it's my first Her Universe purchase. I love what they represent and the merch

Adventures in Central City

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving last Thursday! We had fun talking geek at our dinner table, but unfortunately the audio recording I made to post did not actually record.  I have to say, that broke my heart just a little. We'll be commenting later on bits of that conversation though...it was too good not to use. I was watching Arrow last evening, and I admittedly got pretty excited at the introduction of Barry Allen.   He hasn’t been transformed into the Flash yet, but I hear that’s next week.   My first question was, does this mean we’ll get a new Flash spin off?   My sources say that we should see something for the 2014-2015 season.     I’m not a big DC girl, but I do love the Flash. I have awesome memories of watching the television show from 1990. There’s something about hearing that title theme by Danny Elfman, and I’m transported back to my youth.   I thought the show was freaking great at the time, but I guess my tastes weren’t refined enough to
