Busy Weekend!

I have an announcement to make. I am pretty sure I am nearly the worst blogger. Between kids sports and currently being stuck in a Netflix black hole with Arrow....I just can't get AHEAD. Anyway, that being said, this weekend has got an awful lot of nerdy stuff going on, and I wanted to give you a quick rundown. Saturday, May 3rd Free Comic Book Day. FREE COMIC BOOKS??? Go to the Free Comic Book Day page  to find a participating store near you each locations rules. There is a free book for EVERY taste. My boys plan on grabbing Teen Titans Go and I'm hoping to get Guardians of the Galaxy and check out some of their multi comic bundles. Oh, I almost forgot about the FCBD  HeroClix that my oldest can't wait to get his hands on!!! The local store we'll be stopping at tomorrow has artists stopping in, a photo op area, and pop up Hydra themed bar! Saturday, May 4th Star Wars Day. May the 4th Be With You! And They Lived Geekily Ever After

So it's not Friday quite yet, but I wanted to write about a cool blog that I stumbled upon. I had seen some things from her on Pinterest, but just located the blog today and as I'm working on planning my own happily ever after, I thought I'd share some of the neat ideas. Every geek couple is different. We all have our fandoms and sometimes we're lucky enough to share them with our significant other. I'm a Marvel girl and my man is DC, but somehow we make it work. :) Anyway, there's a good chance that there will be several geeky elements in our wedding...it's just who we are. I think we'll probably be more subtle about it, but it will most certainly be there. If you're reading this blog, chances are you're a geek, too. Hopefully you've found someone who you will share that with you. If you're thinking about getting yourself a permanent player 2, you should check out When Geeks Wed . Cassandra features weddings from every fandom. Whethe

Too Old To Cosplay?! NEVER!!

Today's Fangirl Favorite is short and very sweet. We believe that there are all different levels of cosplay and they are all wonderful and to be appreciated. I think it's cool to see people cosplay across gender or race, but it's not often that we get to see people who continue to cosplay as they get older. There was an adorable couple at Emerald City Comic Con who proved that just because we age, doesn't mean we have to get old. I haven't seen all the photos from the con, but I think they could have probably been the cutest couple at the convention. So to Popeye and Olive Oyl, wherever you are, thanks for being awesome and showing us that there's no age limit on cosplay and just having fun together! You two are our favorites this week! ~Songbird

Heroes in a Half Shell

A couple weeks ago, before stuff started showing up on the internet about the new Michael Bay movie, I decided to watch the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie with my boys. So, here's the jist of the story. Four tiny turtles begin a huge transformation after coming in contact with a mysterious green ooze. A rat who was once the pet of a great ninja master "adopts" them and teaches them the way of the ninja. While the turtles are studying in the sewers, there is a crime wave blanketing the city above. Robberies are on the rise and TV reporter April O'Neil finds herself a one of the latest victims. Unexpectedly, the streetlamp goes out....and when it goes back on, she's sitting next to a tied up pile of her attackers! Leave it to a reporter to get to the bottom of the story! April finds that behind this crime ring is the Foot Clan, led by the evil Shredder and he's not happy that she's onto him and he sends his henchmen to take care of

Fangirl Snack!

Friday favorite is a bit unusual. I love snacks. A bit too much sometimes but, whatevs. One of my favorite? Cheez-Its. I die for Cheez-Its. And while I haven't ever, I feel like I could eat an entire box. What's better? Spider-Man Cheez-Its! The perfect snack for fangirls. What's your favorite snack for gaming? Movies? Cons?

I'm Gonna Hack You In Two With A Hatchet

No, this week's TBT is not a horror flick. This just happens to be one of the most hilarious lines from a little known made for tv movie called Camp Cucamonga. For some reason, it's always been a family favorite. We were all able to get together this past weekend to celebrate my mother's birthday and there were several references, including part of the rap from the movie. Yup...that's just the kind of family we are.   The movie was released for television in September of 1990 basically just to display a plethora of popular television actors of the time, but ended up being a quality product despite some of the cheese. The title was briefly changed to How I Spent My Summer, but now can be found again under the original title. The all-star cast included Candace Cameron (Full House) and Jaleel White (Family Matters), which covered our TGIF days. Then we have Josh Saviano and Danica McKellar from The Wonder Years. We also get to see heartthrob Chad Allen from My Two Da

I Speak Whale

This morning I was jamming to my Big Band music and Bobby Darin came on singing Beyond the Sea. I instantly knew what I needed to write about: Finding Nemo. This is such a fantastic movie. I watched it in the theatre twice when it came out. Disney animation has been a big deal in my life, but it forever changed when Pixar was added to the equation. There really have only been a couple of their movies of which I haven't been an enormous fan. I feel strongly that they took a huge leap forward with Finding Nemo. The vibrancy of the movie is seen instantly and if you were to take out the fish, seahorses and turtles, the scene you'd be left with could almost convince you that you're underwater.   This movie has the saddest beginning 5 minutes...that is until they created Up. After that, it's a hilarious lesson on life and family. I swear these movies are really for adults. We're all just big kids who never really grew up. You probably don't even realize wh
